Mumbai: History was created on Monday after Sachin Tendulkar became the first Indian sports personality to be featured at the Madame Tussaud’s wax museum.
The Mumbaikar inaugurated his wax statue at a hotel in Mumbai on Monday as said that he felt honoured to be a part of Madame Tussaud’s.
“This experience has been something special. I am overwhelmed by the gesture. It is a great honour to be a part of Madame Tussaud’s,” said Tendulkar.Watch Live Cricket MATCHESHe added that it is a matter of great pride that an Indian cricketer has been chosen to be a part of the illustrious wax museum.
Asked if the master blaster has ever been to the museum, Tendulkar said, “I have not been able to visit the museum, but this time I will definitely go.”
Tendulkar said that the statue is from the time when he went past the record of scoring 16,000 runs.
He also said jokingly that he was glad the he didn’t have to wait for long to unveil the statue.
Tendulkar has played 159 Tests and 425 ODI matches. He has over 12,000 Test runs and more than 16,000 ODI runs to his credit, which is currently the highest ever scored by any batsmen in both the forms of the game.
He said that his contribution to the field of cricket was well paid off. “I think this figure is a nice representation of my contribution to cricket.
